Emily Buckley

If one could imagine life as a literary work, then it could be said that Emily is a narrator – a person that tells a story to an audience. This storytelling is an important aspect of her life, and it shows through her pursuits in the arts. She concentrates in the arts of written word, painting, jewellery and textiles but remains willing to explore the expressive potential in any given media. This is a practice that she adopted while attending Fleming College Haliburton School of Art and Design (formerly, Haliburton School of The Arts), within the program Visual and Creative Arts Diploma. She got to try everything from glassblowing to ceramics to blacksmithing before choosing to specialize in drawing and painting and jewellery.
When Emily first enrolled at Fleming College in 2009, she was unaware of the journey upon which she embarked. Not only did this school provide the means to develop a body of work, but also the opportunity to grow as an individual. It was and remains a community where people feel comfortable being open and honest with each other. As a result, things would just flow, like solder.
Now having graduated from her program, Emily continues to look for stories within anything as they enable journeys of thought and inspiration that have the power to connect with people.
